Here are some of the most common skin diseases and what you should know about them

by Health Mart

The tricky thing about skin diseases is that there are so many of them, caused by so many different things, and have varying degrees of severity. Sometimes, they are one-off occurrences, other times they are conditions we have to live with for our entire lives; and sometimes they are triggered by external factors, other times they are genetic.

Because of the vast number of conditions we might encounter, we’ve listed down some of the most common ones, how to identify them, and what to do about them:

  • Contact dermatitis

  • While temporary, this condition makes the skin red, itchy, raw, scaly, or some or all of the above. The rash usually appears within hours or days after that particular area of your skin comes into contact with an allergen. In severe cases, it can exhibit blisters that ooze and/or become crusty.

Get immediate relief when you use Physiogel Calming Relief A.I. Cream—it gives you long-lasting moisturization with regular use, is hypoallergenic, and clinically proven to toughen up your skin barrier.

  • Eczema

  • Eczema is usually exhibited by scaly patches of skin that flake off, and affected areas may be itchy, red, and/or oily. In some occurrences, hair loss may appear where the rash appears too. While it’s a common childhood skin disorder, it can also be caused by stress.

Relieve redness and itching with Elica Cream, a steroid-free product that contains Mometasone Furoate, which contains anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive properties.

  • Psoriasis

  • Not always characterized by itchiness, psoriasis is more easily identifiable by having silvery, scaly, and sharply distinct skin patches. This commonly occurs in the scalp, elbows, lower back, and knees. It’s a permanent skin disorder that can be present at birth or can appear later on in life, with stress being one of its triggers.

Restore soft and smooth skin with Physiogel Calming Relief A.I. Lotion. It soothes dry and itchy skin, and because it’s hypoallergenic, it’s perfect for those with irritated and sensitive skin too.

  • Hives
  • These usually appear as swollen, raised marks after being exposed to certain allergens. They are warm, sometimes painful to touch, and can be randomly shaped.

Keep the allergy at bay with Elica Ointment, a steroid-free ointment designed to rapidly relieve redness and itchiness, while also restoring the skin barrier.

  • Rosacea

  • A chronic skin condition that cycles through fading and reappearing, which can be caused by alcoholic drinks, spicy food, stress, sun exposure, and the intestinal bacteria Helicobacter pylori. Symptoms include raised, red bumps; flushing and redness; skin dryness; and skin sensitivity.

Use Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Lotion regularly and enjoy the benefits of stronger, more moisturized skin; less sensitive skin; and overall relief from dry and tight skin.

  • Warts

  • Caused by different types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), warts may be found on the skin or in mucous membranes. It’s a raised bump that’s typically rough, and can occur on its own or in groups. It’s also very easily transmissible to others, and is a skin irregularity that may be a symptom of another skin disorder.
